About the GLRC
The Global Learning Resource Connection (GLRC) is a public-private collaboration bringing to fruition ongoing work between JES & Co., corporate sponsors and education agencies worldwide by connecting the dots between learning systems in the United States and internationally using semantic web technologies. The GLRC building blocks tie together several significant semantic web technologies developed by JES & Co. with the support from the National Science Foundation, foreign government agencies and the US Department of Education. Included in the GLRC framework are the Open Metadata Registry, the Achievement Standards Network (ASN), the Gateway to 21st Century Skills and the ASN Toolkit. GLRC solutions will be supported by trans-jurisdictional mapping of learning outcomes by means of Semantic Web/Linked Data principles. Participating organizations will provide teachers and learners access to quality commercial and non-commercial education resources that have traditionally resided in difficult-to-access silos and systems. Leadership and support is provided by Microsoft, Cisco, Cengage/Gale, the National Education Association (NEA), the National Science Foundation, Education Services Australia, the IMS Global Learning Consortium, education agencies worldwide and other leading corporations currently in the commitment process.
